Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division partners with the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association to promote fire education and fire safety to primary-school children across Minnesota

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Continuing its mission to save lives and protect property, the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association is proud to communicate its partnership with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety State Fire Marshal Division to provide Fire Educator Toolkits to help carry out a mini-fire-safety training program for students from kindergarten through third grade.

Fire departments that volunteer to participate will be provided with a complete toolkit, including smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher (empty), a whiteboard to facilitate home address practice, a sprinkler head, a flameless candle and more.

“This campaign addresses the need to make children familiar with the tools that help keep them safe from fire,” said State Fire Marshal Jerry Rosendahl. “We received an immediate response from fire departments excited about the opportunity to participate, and we are looking forward to getting these toolkits in the hands of our fire fighting professionals, especially in the non-metro areas of our state.”

This initial program launch is limited to 30 fire departments, and program training will begin mid-January with the expectation that the program will be in schools by early February. Discussion is underway to extend the campaign to additional fire departments in the spring of 2013.
