FireExtinguishersSaveLives.org Aims to Raise Awareness of Fire Safety
New Website Features Fire Extinguisher Success Stories & Educational Resources
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A new website highlights the importance of fire extinguishers in saving lives and protecting property during a fire emergency. FireExtinguishersSaveLives.org curates news stories from around the country that feature successful fire extinguisher uses in an effort to bring further awareness to fire safety.
The website also provides an opportunity for individuals who have safely and effectively used a fire extinguisher to share their stories. These Fire Safety Heroes will be recognized and receive a free replacement fire extinguisher.
In addition, free educational resources on fire safety have been provided by the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association. Information on how to properly use a fire extinguisher can also be found on the website, along with fire extinguisher statistics and links to helpful videos. FireExtinguishersSaveLives.org was developed by the Government Relations Committee of the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association and is sponsored by multiple fire safety organizations, including the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors, the National Association of State Fire Marshalls, and Fire is Everyone’s Fight, a national initiative of the U.S. Fire Administration.
“Studies show that after notifying the fire department, an average person can effectively use a fire extinguisher to help save lives and protect property with little to no training,” said Craig Voelkert, Government Relations Committee Chairperson. “Through FireExtinguishersSaveLives.org, we hope to spread awareness of the significant role of fire extinguishers during a fire emergency and ultimately instill confidence in individual’s abilities to effectively use a fire extinguisher.”
New fire extinguisher success stories and relevant information will also be shared through an associated Facebook page, facebook.com/FireExtinguishersSaveLives.
